Greener Planet Tempranillo – Garnacha
Vino de la Tierra de Castilla, Spain
Made with Organically Grown Grapes
Greener Planet is a totally new concept that brings together like-minded organic winemakers and growers from around the world; all of whom share the commitment to make wine that tastes delicious, represents a value and is produced earth-friendly without damaging the environment. To qualify for Greener Planet, each vineyard must be certified organic by an internationally accredited organization.
Lorenza Delgada participates in the concept by supplying Greener Planet with Tempranillo and Garnacha from his organic vineyards in the ancient windmill punctuated landscape of La Mancha. “My vines are in the region of Don Quixote. I like to treat them naturally as they’d have done in his day,” according to Lorenza Delgada discussing his vineyards.
Greener Planet is bottled in partially recycled glass and the label is made from recycled paper and printed with sustainable inks. The grapes are certified organic by ECOCERT, a world leader in organic certification and are accredited for National Organic Program (NOP) certification.
Greener Planet is an excellent wine that can be enjoyed with lamb, pork, beef, or just on its own.
Tasting Notes
Greener Planet Tempranillo, Garnacha offers an expressive bouquet of floral-accented strawberry and raspberry aromas with espresso and dark chocolate. The medium-body delivers a palate of forward fruits and fresh acidity through to the lively finish.
Vineyards
Greener Planet Tempranillo, Garnacha is produced with organically grown grapes sourced from the ancient windmill punctuated landscape of La Mancha, Spain. At an elevation of between 1,600 to 2,000 feet, the severely harsh arid continental climate makes it ideal for organic grape growing. The soils are composed of red-brown sandy clay over limestone and chalk. The vineyards receive about 11 to 16 inches of rain per year with a maximum summer temperature of 113° Fahrenheit.
