Los Cowboys MalbecLos Cowboys Fair Trade Wine - Fair Trade Certified

Mendoza, Argentina

Fair Trade Certified™ - Fair Trade Wine

Los Cowboys is a true representation of its culture.  Strong, honest and proud, they seek to preserve the quality of life through Fair Trade.

Los Cowboys is sourced from three framing communities of Lavalle, San Martin, and Medrano in the Mendoza region of Argentina.  The small family farmers of Argentina are increasingly susceptible to the low market prices of their  grapes as the world demand increases.  The prices they receive for their grapes do not generate enough income to meet the basic needs of the family.  As a result, their opportunity to invest in improving their farms and vineyards are threatened and are at risk of having to sell the property.

As with many farming communities in the global south, there is little to no funding available for school improvements.  The schools currently do not have enough funding for new playgrounds.  Double up Fair Trade is the commitment to construct nine playgrounds at the local schools within the farming communities.

With every glass of Los Cowboys you can directly help the grower, their community and the environment.

Tasting Notes

This Malbec offers dense flavors of dark plum and chocolate layered with oak.  The finish is long, velvety, and elegant.

Claudio T. beneficiary of Los Cowboys Fair Trade WineVineyards

Los Cowboys Malbec is Fair Trade Certified™ from grapes sourced from 90-year-old vines planted in a soil composed of clay and loam.  The region has both coastal and mountain influences.  The climate is cold winters with very hots summers moderated by the high altitude.

Reviews

88 Points (Highly Recommended) - 2008 Los Cowboys Malbec

"Bold aromas of chocolate covered espresso beans and cherry-berry custard follow through on a rich, round entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body with tangy berry, melon, and citrus notes.  Finishes in a lively cocoa-spice and toasted cedar fade with supple, powdery tannins."
