Fair Trade Certified™ - Fair Trade Wine

NEU DIRECTION is paving a NEU path by combining the craftsmanship of premium quality winemaking and environmental sustainability.  The DIRECTION of the path is guided by Fair Trade, seeking to enrich the lives of vineyard workers, their families, and their communities.  Fair Trade Certified™ directly supports a better life for farming families in the developing world through fair prices, community development and environmental stewardship.

Neu Direction Malbec benefits the local farmers of Viña de la Solidaridad (Vine of Solidarity), an association based on preserving the rich, cultural heritage of the contratista-landowner relationship.  Ten small vineyard owners and nine contratistas make up the association.  The contratistas lives on the land with their families and are paid a percentage of the grape harvest by the vineyard owners.  The association currently owns 200 acres of vineyards with about a third certified organic, with plans to convert more over the coming years.

With every glass of Neu Direction you can directly help the grower, their community and the environment.  The wine labels for Neu Direction are made from recycled materials and look for the Fair Trade Certified™ label to know that every glass matters!

Neu Direction Malbec pairs well with roasted or grilled red meats, mature cheeses, or simply on its own.

Tasting Notes

Neu Direction Malbec offers ripe flavors of plum and cherry accented by a touch of chocolate.

Vineyards

Neu Direction Malbec is produced with handpicked Fair Trade Certified™ grapes sourced from Mendoza, Argentina.  The grapes are grown on old-vines in a soil composed of clay and loam.  The region has both coastal and mountain influences and soil in this area is a mix of sandstone and granite with marl, making for an ideal terroir.  The climate is cold winters and very hot, dry summers with cool nights, combined with the high altitude it is a moderate climate, ideally suited for growing Malbec.

Reviews

"Normally we're leery about new brands with catchy names, but this one does chart a new direction...and it's a good one...shows balanced black fruit flavors, thickness, saturation and length."
