“Welcome back to a balanced world.”
ÖKO
[ÖKO: ökologie > ecology > the interrelationships of organisms in the environment]: The tree, a symbol of nature and life, provides the necessary oxygen for all things in the world to survive.
ÖKO is an eco-wine based on the guiding vision to partner with various growers whose vineyards are in harmony with nature and produce a wine of distinction and quality. To qualify for ÖKO, each property must be certified organic by an internationally accredited organization.
The eco-friendly ÖKO Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from organically farmed vineyards in the area of Montagne Noire, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. Through the benefits from using cover crops, organic manure and natural predators, the organic vineyards eliminate the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. The vineyard is certified organic by ECOCERT, a world leader in organic certification and certifies more than 70% of the vineyards in France.

Tasting Notes
ÖKO Cabernet Sauvignon is vibrant, lush driven aromas and flavors, typical of the region, of violets, cassis, blackberries, and red raspberries exemplify the pedigree of the vineyard. Medium-bodied, ripe, with soft silky tannins and enticing, fruity nose with a finish that is pure and balanced.
Vineyard
ÖKO Cabernet Sauvignon is produced with organically grown grapes sourced from the foothills of Montagne Noire in the Languedoc, France. The soils are primarily composed of chalky clay with limestone, sandstone, pebbles, and granite. The climate near the medieval walled city of Carcassonne and the Montagne Noire in Languedoc is unique to the area. The dominate climate for the region is Mediterranean with mild winters and hot summers. However where the vineyards are located, there is a unique microclimate and has a humid Bordeaux-like climate with the hot Mediterranean sun.
Reviews
Winner of the 2010 trials - 2006 ÖKO Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot
"the producers didn't neglect quality in their pursuit of ECOCERT organic ratings: the wine is juicy and floral, without the dip in quality that sometimes accompanies budget organic wines."
